Letter, K. P. Baskin, SCE, to D. M. Crutchfield, NRC, NUREG-0737, Item II.D.1, Performance Testing of PWR Safety and Relief Valves, April 1, 1982 The referenced letter provided you with the preliminary evaluation of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) program test results which demonstrate the capability of the Crosby 3K6 Safety Valves and Muesco PORVs used at San Onofre Unit 1 to operate under expected operating and accident conditions. We indicated that a final evaluation of the EPRI program test results including an analysis of discharge piping systems would be provided by July 1, 1982.
The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you that the final evaluation necessary to determine the applicability of the EPRI program test results for the PORVs, SVs and Block Valves at San Onofre Unit 1 will not be completed by July 1, 1982. The evaluation being prepared for us by Westinghouse Electric Corporation will be received by us in the first week in July. Based on this schedule it is currently anticipated that the final evaluation of the valves and discharge piping necessary to comply with the subject requirement can be submitted to you by August 1, 1982.
