IMPLEMENTATION OF SAN ONOFRE SHORT TERM LESSONS LEARNED REQU IREMENTS On January 2, 1980, Southern California Edison Company was issued an Order to Show Cause why It should not by January 31, 1980, implement all "CategoryJ A" Lessons Learned Requirements or shut downDSan Onofre unless a shutdown
.would severely impact the power 'reliability in the Pacific Northwest. In response to the Order the licensee requested,'on the basis of power reliability, an extension to March 15, 1980, for items requiring a shutdown.
On the basis of our discussions with DOE over the past several days, we cannot conclude, on the basis of power reliability. that there is adequate Justification to extend the January 31. 1980 d ate to March 15, 1980. The licensee was appraised of our position and agreed to shut down San Onofre this weekend to complete implementation of the "Ca tegory A" Lessons Learned Requirements.
