November 22, 1982 Office of Environmental Programs Waste Management Administration 201 West Preston Street Baltimore, Maryland 21201 Att ention : Mr. Ronald Parise Re: Maryland State Discharge Permit No. 74-DP-0187 and NPDES Permit No. MD 0002399

Dear Mr. ?arise:

Monitoring point 105 of outfall 001 of the reference permit is described as miscellaneous vaste streams. Since the plant actually has two components to this monitoring point, we have typically monitored both substreams independently. The report data is computed on a weighted average basis when both substreams are discharged in the same 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
period, or reported separately when discharges occur on separate days.

On October 15, 1982 the weighted average of the two components to monitoring point 105 y.'.elded results within permit specifications. However, one of the components yielded oil and grease and suspended solids higher than permit restrictions and an investigation was instituted. Subsequent investigative analyses of this sourwo has indicated above specification oil and grease and suspended solids. During the investigation, the daily maximum specifications were exceeded for the following 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
periods:

We r.lso believe this to be an isolated occurrence and except f- an increased monitoring frequency, we have made no corrective action. ae have implemented a temporary program to perfor,.
