Mr. Raymond E. Riggin Be: Maryland State Discharce Permit No. Th-DP-0187 A (I.'PDES No. PD 0002399)
Dear Mr. Riggin:
On June 5,1981, veekly colifom an'slysis showed a concentration of
>1609 mpn/100 ml.
This result is above the 70 rpn/100 ml pemitted by the reference permit. The cause has been determined to be conted-nation in the sodium thioculfate containers used for dechlorination.
A coliform test was perfom,:d on the sodium thiosulfate containers a.i the results indicated high colifom concentrations; the containers er.i hoses were cleaned, chlorinated and refilled for service.
To correct this situation, housekeeping frequency has been increased.
On June 2h,1981, weekly colifom analysis showed a concentration of 228 mpn/100 m1, again above the allowable limit.
An inspection of the system showed solida carryover into the chlorinc contact tank. n.e
- chlorine contact tank was drained and cleaned.
To correct this situa-i or..
the chlorine contact tank vill be inspected for possib1c contaninatic.
whenever normal effluent surveillance is performed.
