- Annapoli s, MD 21h01 Attention: Mr. Rayuond E. Riggin tie : Marylanc. State Discharge Permit No. 7k-DP-0187A (NPDES No MD 0002399)
Dear Mr. Riggin:
During the month of February, there were four violations in the sewage plant operation at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant not previously reported in accordance with section II.B.2 of the Marylanti State Discharge Permit No. Th-DP-0187A.
On February 6,10,13, and 18, the coliform readings were 278 mpn/100 m1, 918 mpa/100 m1,1609 r::pn/100 ml and Sh2 mpn/100 m1, respectively; all greater then tne allovable 70 mpn/100 ml. -
These evento vere rJ3 due to enceptionally high flows being experienced by the cavage treatment plant. As stated in an earlier letter, since October the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant (both Unit 1 and Unit 2)-
has been in a scheduled ~ refueling / major modification outsge,-which demands a,large work force population. The existing. treatment plant has not been fully capable of handling this increased flow.
To correct this situation, a staff engineer and two chemistry technicians are working tova*d a plant modification program designed to provide full c:mpliance by June 1, 1981. Also, a larger or additional sewage treatment 3
- g facility -is being planned as a major component of the Nuclear Power Plant
