002 of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Fover Plant, h confirmed a pH of 91, above the con:pliance limit of 9 0. This . condition existed until 0800 hours0.00926 days <br />0.222 hours <br />0.00132 weeks <br />3.044e-4 months <br />

. on Januan 7,1982 when the pH vas found to be 8.2. A report of this

. incident was verbally transmitted to your office on January 7, 3982 and this is the required written report.

The noncompliance was found to be a result- of a high ar=onia concentration in the yard oil interceptor, a major contributor to the flow frotn outfall 002. Though ammonia is used extensively for pH control of the nteam system at .Calvert Cliffe , no direct cause of high smmonia in the yard oil inter-ceptor could be found. An investigation for possible causes is continuing thcugh, with the noncompliance no longer occurring, little success is expect ed.
