Dear Mr. Keppler:

Referen ce ( c) provided the required response to IE Bulletin 80-20 for all Commonwealth Edison Company operating and cons t ru ction units. In this response, thirty-nine (39) Westinghouse type W-2 swit ches per unit were identified as employed in safety-related systems at Byron and Braidwood stations. Failures of Westinghouse type W-2 switches at Byron Station were also reported in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e) by Reference (a) .

In our continuing review of the use of W-2 switches in safety-related applications at Byron and Braidwood Stations, we have identified additional use of these swit ches. The numbers of additional type W-2 swit ches and their applications are provided in the enclosure to this letter. Our initial response to the bulletin, describing our planned corre ctive a ction, is un changed.
