(b) May 7, 1990, S.C. Hunsader letter to T.E. Murley
Dear Dr.,
Murley:
Reference (a) provided, for NCC staff review, the Commonwealth Edison j
. Edison) Leak-Before-Break Evaluation for Stainless Sini Pip'ng for the Byron
(
and Braidwood Stations.
Reference (b) provided the Edison response to four (4)-NRC questions relative to this Leak-Before-Break (LBB) licensing submittal (SL-4518) that had been forwarded to Edison via telecopy on February 28, 1990.
The basis for.this response was discussed in an April 30, 1990 teleconference with Messrs. P. Shemanski and S. Lee of the NRC staff.
In reference (a), Edison provided the plan to replace a number of Kerotest valves and approximately 20 to 30 snubbers in the RH system during the upcoming Byron Unit 2 (B2R02) and Braidwood Unit 1 (AlR02) outages.
The i
purpose of this letter is to notify the NRC staff that. current Byron (B2R02) 1 and Braidwood (AIR 02) outage planning will not include the removal of the
'i snubbers.
Removal of these will be scheduled for a' future outage.
The Kerotest valves may be replaced as found necessary.
However, the completion of the LBB licensing submittal review by the NRC staff is not necessary to support the Kerotest valve replacement. Accordingly, completion of the review by the NRC staff prior to August 1, 1990, as stated in reference (a), is no longer necessary.
Please direct any questions regarding this submittal to this office.
Very truly yours, 0$
