Subject:

Annual Dose Report fcc 1998 Pursuant to 10 CFR 20.2206(c), the Annual Dose Report, covering the previous year, shall be submitted on or before April 30 of each year. The Annual Dose Report for 1998 provides the results of individual radiation monitoring carried out by Commonwealth Edison (Comed) Company representatives for each individual for whom radiation monitoring was provided during 1998. Enclosed are the 1998 reports for the Braidwood Station, Byron Station, Dresden Nuclear Power Station, LaSalle County Station, Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, and Zion Nuclear Power Station. The reports are being submitted electronically on magnetic tape.

) g Subsequent to the generation of this magnetic tape, we identified a computer error that resulted in excluding neutron dose from the deep-dose equivalent and total effective h

dose equivalent values. This computer error affects a small percentage of the monitored individuals (i.e., fewer than one percent). In addition, the neutron dose values involved g'.

Page 2 range from 10 mrem to 270 mrem. This computer error was also determined to affect all prior year Annual Dose Reports (i.e.,1994 through 1997). Revised Annual Dose Reports for 1994 through 1998, which include neutron dose, are expected to be submitted by June 30,1999.

The enclosed tape was prepared following the guidance provided in Regulatory Guide 8.7, " Instructions for Recording and Reporting Occupational Radiation Exposure Data,"

Revision 1, dated June 1992. The tape was generated on April 16,1999, and contains the Annual Dose Report for each of the six nuclear stations. The order of the stations' data on the tape is LaSalle County Station, Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Byron Station, Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Braidwood Station, and Zion Nuclear Power Station. There are no names for the station files on the tape. Each station's data is preceded by a header record, which provides the information necessary to identify the source of the data.

' The magnetic tape used for the data is a no label tape, it has a record size of 400, a blocking factor of 6000, and a fixed blocked record format. The tape was created from an International Business Machines (IBM) mainframe using a 3420 tape reel. The character set is Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code (EBCDIC) format. As specified in 10 CFR 20.2206(c), the copy of the magnetic tape is being transmitted to the Radiation Exposure Information Reporting System (REIRS) Project Manager at the NRC.

Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Mr. J. A. Bauer at (630) 663-7287.
