Dear Mr. Davis:
Ref erence (a) provided the Commonwealth Edison (Edison) response to the violation concerning safeguards information where it was indicated that Edison was aware of a request by the Kewaunee Nuclear Station for an 7
independent NRC review of a similar violation.
The commitment stated that i
within 60 days of the completion of the independent NRC review of the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPSC) violation, reviews would be conducted by Edison for all of Edison's Nuclear Stations and appropriate actions taken.
Edison has just become aware that the ruling on Kewaunee's petition has been completed. Although the NRC responded to Kewaunee on January 22, 1
1990, it was not until discussions with the NRC staff during an inspection at i
Dresden on March 21, 1990 that Edison became cognizant of this information.

Accordingly, Edison has requested docunientation pertinent to this issue be S
supplied by WPSC. To allow for a thorough review of the Kewaunee ruling by

Edison's security staff, Edison is requesting an extension of our previous commitment. A formal reply listing Edison's corrective actions is expected to I
be submitted by June 1, 1990.
