ME4640) The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC or the applicant) held a telephone conference call on April 11, 2013, to discuss and clarify the staff's requests for additional information (RAls) concerning the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station license renewal application. Enclosure 1 provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a summary of the staff discussion with FENOC. A brief description on the status of the items is also included. The staff stated that the IWF Program requirement for A325 A490 bolting is different than the requirements for A325 and A490 high-strength bolting addressed in the Structures Monitoring Program, because there is an exemption high-strength A325 and A490 bolting in the Structures Monitoring Program that does not exist the IWF Program. The staff stated that the process for monitoring high-strength A325 and IWF bolting could follow the same process as that proposed by FENOC for A540 bolting in the response to the FENOC stated that plant-specific operating experience from the IWF Program inspections not shown any evidence of bolting SCC. FENOC also stated that it needs to review the further and requested a follow-up telephone conference call on this topic to obtain clarification from the staff.
