SCHEDULE REVISION FOR SAFETY REVIEW OF THE DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 1, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAG NO ME4640)
Dear Mr. Lieb:
By letter dated August 27, 2010, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (1 0 CFR)
Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew operating license NPF-003 for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 (Davis-Besse), for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. This letter is to inform you of a change in the safety review schedule for the Davis-Besse license renewal review.
Enclosed is the NRC staff's revised safety review schedule for the Davis-Besse license renewal application (LRA). The schedule has been updated to reflect changes in the ACRS second subcommittee meeting and the final ACRS full committee meeting on the SER and includes to-be-determined (TBD) milestones. By letter dated October 8, 2013, FENOC requested to postpone the schedule in order to allow sufficient time to adequately assess the new cracks that were identified as part of routine inspections at the concrete shield building. In addition, this would also allow the identification of the potential impacts, if any, to the LRA.
The NRC will continue to follow established review procedures and the enclosed schedule to complete the reviews required by 10 CFR Part 54.
