Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

In accordance with Section 6.9.2 of the Technical Specifications for the H. B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit 2, the following event is reported. '

On April 24,1983, at 0710 hours0.00822 days <br />0.197 hours <br />0.00117 weeks <br />2.70155e-4 months <br />, "B" Service Water Booster Pump (SWEP) was declared inoperable due to a bearing failure. At 1407 hours0.0163 days <br />0.391 hours <br />0.00233 weeks <br />5.353635e-4 months <br />, "A" SWBP tripped, and Plant shutdown was commenced in accordance with Technical Specification 3.3.4.2. The control power fuses were found blown on "A" SWBP. These fuses were replaced, and "A" SWBP was restarted. Plant shutdown was terminated at approximately 1424 hours0.0165 days <br />0.396 hours <br />0.00235 weeks <br />5.41832e-4 months <br />. At 1501 hours0.0174 days <br />0.417 hours <br />0.00248 weeks <br />5.711305e-4 months <br />, "A" SWBP tripped again, and PJLant shutdown was recommenced. The control power fuses were replaced, and "A" SWBP was restarted; however, Plant shutdown continued pending further investigation of the failure. Hot shutdown conditions were achieved at 1759 hours0.0204 days <br />0.489 hours <br />0.00291 weeks <br />6.692995e-4 months <br />.

NRC Region II and the of fice of Mr. B. J. Furr, Vice President - Nuclear Operations, were notified of this event on April 25, 1983.
