Dear Mr. O'Ibilly:
In accordance with Plant Technical Specification 6.9.2.a.3, the following event is reported.
At 1215 hours0.0141 days <br />0.338 hours <br />0.00201 weeks <br />4.623075e-4 months <br /> on August 23, 1983, a service water leak was discovered on Containment Fan Cooler HVH-2.
The service water to the cooler was isolated inmediately. In accordance with Technical Specification 3.3.2.2.a, operability testing of the containment spray pumps was empleted at 1402 hours0.0162 days <br />0.389 hours <br />0.00232 weeks <br />5.33461e-4 months <br />.
l Subsequently, repairs were performed, and HVH-2 was returned to service at 2220 hours0.0257 days <br />0.617 hours <br />0.00367 weeks <br />8.4471e-4 months <br />. This event is considered a degradation of a containment boundary pursuant to IE Bulletin 80-24 and is reported as such.
This event was reported on August 24, 1983, to the NRC, Region II and the office of Mr. B. J. Furr, Vice President, Nuclear Operations Department, Carolina Power and Light Cmpany.
