Dear Sirs:
In accordance with Section 6.9.2.a.2 of the Technical Specifications, the following Reportable Occurrence in subnitted:
On Jcnuary 29, 1978, Reactor Coolant System pressure exceeded Technical Specification limits as shown in figure.3.1-2 by 60 paig for approximately two minutes.
The primary systen was solid at 360 paig, 155 F and temperature ntabic.
A and C Reactor Coolant Pumps were running, and the RHR Pumps were stopped in preparation for a refueling P.T.
When the RHR Pump was stopped a pressure increase was experienced and was terminated at 560 paig by in'tia-tion of a manual safety injection signal which started both RHR Pumps.
The pronoure van then reduced to below 500 psig.
Total titie in excess of Techni-col Specification pressure limit was approximately two crinutes.
This was reported to Mr. Harold Banks' Office of Carolina Power and Light Company and Mr. Barrell Minckley of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Atlanta.
