This refers to your letter dated June 1,1982, which responded to the Notice of
Violation sent to you with our letter of April 28, 1982.
With regard to your response to Item A of the Notice of Violation, we have no
further questions at this time. We will review your implementation of the
corrective actions described during future inspections.
Regarding your corrective octions for Item B of the Notice of Violation, we are
concerned that the revision of your procedure CQA-1 nay not adequately convey the
intent of ANSI N45.2.6-1973. Specifically, to satisfy the requirements of that
Standard, the qualified inspector must directly observe the trainee perform each
step of the inspection procedure and independently perform any required measure-
ments and examinations to determine acceptability. So long as the procedure is
interpreted and implemented in this manner we have no further questions regarding
this matter and we will review implementation of your corrective actions during
future inspections.
Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, we will be glad to
discuss them with you.
