By letter dated November 4,1983, Portland General Electric (PGE) responded to several Items of Generic Letter (GL) 83-28, among them, Item 4.5.2, Reactor Trip System On-line Functional Testing.
The staff has completed its review of Item 4.5.2 and concludes that PGE's response for this topic is acceptable. The staff was assisted in its review by EG&G Idaho, Inc. Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation along with EG&G Idaho's Technical Evaluation, which provides the bases for our conclusion.
GL 83-28 Item 4.5.3 (Intervals for On-line Functional Testing) will be addressed in a future Safety Evaluation.
