Subject: Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-54/87-04; 70-687/87-05 )

A routine safety inspection of your radiation protection program was conducted

on August 10-13, 1987. This inspection was conducted to review two areas:

1) Your actions in response to NRC Confirmatory Action Letter (CAL)

No. 87-01, dated January 20, 1987; and,

ii) the status of your radiation protection program upgrades.

Specific improvements were noted in association with your radiological control

program upgrades and in your control of the manipulator hand repair operation.

One apparent violation, concerning a failure to post an airborne radioactivity

area, was identified during this inspection. This violation was reviewed and

found to meet the mitigative tests described in 10 CFR 2. Appendix C;

consequently, no Notice of Violation is being issued. The establishment and

implementation of your long-term corrective actions for this violation will be

reviewed during a subsequent inspection, i
