This letter refers to the special inspection initiated by Messrs.
Thomas F. Dragoun and Joseph E. Carrasco on July 27, 1990, continued by
Mr. Michael A. Austin on August 23. 1990, and concluded by Dr. Robert J. Bores
on October 18, 1990.
.This special inspection was conducted to observe your t.ctivities and examine
records relative to the repair and testing of the reactor pool system to review
l
the licensee's October 3, 1990 proposal for use of these facilities for
!
decommissioning activities and to review the status of your plcn for
'
decommissioning the reactor and hot laboratory fecilities.
As discussed with you via telephone on October 4, 1990, with regard to the
repair and testing of the pool, we have concluded that the reactor pool system
can be operated at the 10 foot water level for uses related to decommissioning
i
activities.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
No reply to this letter is required relative to the inspection.
