Subject: NRC Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-54/88-02; 70-687/88-06

This letter refers to the routine safety inspection of activities authorized by

NRC License No SNM-639 conducted by Messrs. E. Fox, Jr., R. Nimitz and K.

Christopher of this office na August 9-11, 1988, at the Cintichem facility in

Tuxedo, New York, and to the oiscussions of these findings by Messrs. Nimitz and

Christopher with you ar.d your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I

report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection

consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records,

inspection of emergency response facilities, interviews with personnel,

inspector observations and licensee action on previous NRC findings.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
