ME3058) The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the staff) and representatives of Energy Northwest (the applicant), held a telephone conference call on November 14, 2011, to discuss and clarify the metal fatigue open item in the staff's Safety Evaluation Report With Open Items for the Columbia Generating Station license renewal application. Enclosure 1 provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains the topic discussed with the applicant, including a brief description on the status of the item. SER Open Item 01 4.3-1. "Metal Fatigue" Discussion: The applicant discussed the staff's plan to conduct an audit to verify the methodology and metal fatigue calculations submitted in its response. The staff agrees that conducting an audit is appropriate and discussed its concerns and the documents it will look at during the audit. Also, the staff discussed the dates and location of the audit.
