TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL COLUMBIA GENERATING STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATIONS SEPTEMBER 28, 2011 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Energy Northwest (the applicant), held telephone conference calls on September 28, 2011, to discuss the following draft request for additional information (RAI) concerning the Columbia Generating Station license renewal application (LRA).

Draft RAI B.1.4-2: Related to future consideration of operating experience Discussion:

The staff discussed a follow up RAI to specify how aging-related issues are addressed under the operating experience program.

The applicant understands the question and discussed submitting a response to the RAI.

The staff will send an RAI.

LRA Section B.2.32, "Inaccessible Power Cables Not Subject to 10 CFR 50.49 EQ Reguirements Program" Discussion:

The applicant discussed including an additional vault for the man hole inspection as part of the scope of the program for the Inaccessible Power Cables Not Subject to 10 CFR 50.49 EQ ReqUirements Program that includes an active pump that will pump down the water. The current program only discusses passive drains in the vaults. The inclusion will be submitted in a LRA supplement.

The staff understands the applicant's statement and will not send an RAI.
