SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON JULY 6, 2011, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND ENERGY NORTHWEST, CONCERNING THE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RESPONSE PERTAINING TO THE COLUMBIA GENERATING STATION, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO. ME3058)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Energy Northwest (the applicant), held a telephone conference call on July 6,2011, to discuss and clarify the response to NRC's request for additional information (RAI) concerning the Columbia Generating Station, license renewal application.

Enclosure 1 provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a listing of the RAI response discussed with the applicant, including a brief description of the status of the item.

The applicant had an opportunity to comment on this summary.

TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL COLUMBIA GENERATING STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION JULY 6,2011 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Energy Northwest, held telephone conference call on July 6, 2011, to discuss the following response to the request for additional information (RAI) concerning the Columbia Generating Station (Columbia) license renewal application (LRA).

Response to RAI 8.1.4-1, issued on June 23, 2011, is related to operating experience.

Discussion:

The staff provided further clarification on describing how future operating experience will be evaluated and considered to ensure that aging management programs will remain effective for managing aging effects during the period of extended operation.

The applicant understands the staff's concerns and will provide an RAI supplement that includes an updated final safety analysis report (UFSAR) supplement.
