APR 4 1986 Docket No. 50-155 Docket No. 50-255 Consumers Power Company ATTN: Dr. F. W. Buckman Vice President Nuclear Operations 212 West Michigan Avenue Jackson, MI 49201 Gentlemen:

, Thank you for the February 6,1986, letter you sub:nitted proposing changes

to Topical Report CPC-2A. We reviewed the propcsed changes to Section 3.2.9,
Section 18.2.2c and Exception / Interpretation No.15a. We find that the Topical Report as revised continues to satisfy the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix B.

! We took particular interest in Exception / Interpretation No.15a, which reduces your previous commitment to follow Section 3E4(a) of the Standard Review Plan.

Based on our review, we find your alternate proposal acceptable.

Regarding the change to Section 18.2.2.c, we suggest that special care be

taken to ensure that technically qualified personnel perform the subject audits.

Please contact Mr. Frank Hawkins of my staff (312-790-5555) with any questions you have regarding this matter.

Sincerely.
