Despita efforts by the Utah Radiation Control board to deflect the shipments, it appears the federal gowmment will allow them to take place. j g, The issue is similar to that of the attempt to send 10.4 million sp6nt (fJdAVtM nuclear rods to a proposed storage facility on Goshute tribal land in Skull V:1y,40 miles west of Salt Lake City. A local entity wants the shipments fateconomic benerits while the state, led by Gov. Mike Leastt, strongly opposes it. In the mill tailings debacle, the Intemational Uranium mill outside of Blanding in San Juan County wants to reomcess the tailings for economic reasons.
