Dear Mr. Miraglia:

In a letter dated March 28, 1985, the NRC reviewed and accepted the Core j Damage Assessment Procedure submitted to the NRC by the District's March 7, 1985 letter. Licensing Event Report (LER) No. 86-20 describes a' deficiency in the procedure which was uncovered after the NRC- review. As a result, the l procedure has been revised changing the method by which core damage is_- ,

assessed. 1 As discussed with your Mr. Frank Witt, attached is the latest revision (Revision 3) of AP.56 " Core Damage Assessment" for inclusion in your review of -

Post Accident Sample System (PASS). Revision 3 dated March 13, 1987 I supersedes all previous issues of AP.56.
