Steve J. Redeker (SMUD) to Seymour Weiss (NRC) letter, MPC&D 95-001, dated January 6,1995, Revised Rancho Seco Quality Manual Attention:

Michael G. Raddatz In accordance with 10 CFR 72.140(d), the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (the District) hereby provides notification of the use of the referenced Quality Manual for activities relating to the Rancho Seco Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI). This Quality Manual has been approved for use at the Rancho Seco Nuclear Station (Docket 50-312, License DPR-54) and satisfies the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix B. The referenced letter indicated that the Quality Manual had been revised to add quality requirements for the ISFSI.

The Rancho Seco ISFSI is not yet licensed under the provisions of 10 CFR 72; however, the Quality Manual has provided the basis for District activities relating to the design and fabrication ofISFSI components. This letter is intended to provide the notification required by 10 CFR 72.140(d) prior to the first receipt of spent fuel at the ISFSI.

If any additional information or clarification is required, you may contact Mr. Wally Koepke at (916) 452-3211, extension 4652.

Sincerely,
