Dear Mr. Redeker:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Commission) has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 126 to Facility Operating License (Possession Only) No. DPR 54 for the Rancho Seco i

Nuclear Generating Station. The amendment is in response to your application dated April 23, j

1999.

The amendment changes Permanently Defueled Technical Specification (PDTS) D3/4.1, " Spent Fuel Pool Level," to replace.a specific reference to spent fuel pool (SFP) level alarm switches with a generic reference to SFP level instrumentation. This will allow you to replace the old level alarm switches with a new ultrasonic level transmitter.

"A copy of the related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. Notice of Issuance will be included in the Commission's next biweekly Federal Reaister notice.
