Thank you and your staff for meeting 'v:.wh Dan Keuter, Tom Baxter, and me on July 31, 1990, to discuss the future of_the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
As we discussed, the mission of the District has been to, "close and ultimately decommission Rancho -
Seco as safely and economically as possible,~ consistent with the' Nuck m Oegulatory Commission license requirements."
We rete'N ize ' that the decommissioning of Rancho Seco presents challenges for both the Commission and the District.
_Mr. Taylor, Dr. Murley, and their staffs have been very supportive in working out the details and granting regulatory relief appropriate _for a plant in a permanently-defueled mode.
7 Currently pending before the Commission is SMUD's reques,t for a
" Possession Only License" and. supporting submittals.
_Issuance of the Commission's NEPA policy is especially significant to our-efforts.
The ratepayer / owners of the District and I look forward to your continuing support in the prompt processing of these additional requests needed to achieve the twin goals of safety and-economy.
