O.11ox 2161 D Oaklanil, CA 94621 4Ir>rn7-74no February 4, 1987 Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 Dear Sir; IMO Delaval was advised on January 12 of this year that General Electric Company had issued a Service Advice Letter (No. 188.1 dated Nov. 14, 1986) regarding the incorrect operation of HFA auxiliary relays. On January 26, 1987, we were advised that these failures had already been reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by General Electric, according to the requirements of 10CFR21.

The purpose of this letter is to advise the NRC that the suspect relays are installed in standby diesel generator systems supplied by IMO Delaval to the following nuclear power plant:

UTILITY SITE SERIAL NO. HODEL Carolina Power & Light Shearon Harris 74046/49 DSRV-16-4 IMO Delaval will forward a copy of Service Advice Letter Number 188.1 to the jobsite for their appropriate action.
