OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE SEPTEMBER 1986 Unit 2 operated at 100% power throughout most of the month.
Powbr was at a reduced level of 600MWE September 1st due to an August 31 dropped control rod runback. The plant returned to 839MWE September 2nd.
On September 3rd, vacuum breaker repairs required #26 Circulating Water pump to be secured, resulting in a power reduction to 800MWE for five hours.
On September 6th, power was ramped down to 275MWE for the monthly Turbine Stop Valve Test.
The test was satisfactorily completed and the plant was restored to full power the same day.
Power was reduced to 825MWE for three hours on September 10th in order to perform backwashing of condenser water boxes.
On September 15, power was reduced to 800MWE for six hours to repair traveling screens at the intake structure.
The reactor was manually tripped on September 16th due to dropped control rods, which resulted from an improper jumper installation in the course of preparation for a scheduled rod exercise test. A safety injection occurred as a result of low Tave and high steam flow indication.
Power operated relief valves PCV-455C and PCV-456 actuated during the resultant transient but did not pass flow due to the normal isolation of their associated manual block valves. The reactor was returned to criticality the same day.
The plant was brought on tlu line after being shut down for fifteen hours.
