SUBJECT: REPORT N0. 50-160/85-02

Thank you for your response of September 9,1985, to our Notices of Violation

and Deviation, issued on August 21, 1985, concerning activities conducted at

your Georgia Tech Research Reactor (GTRR) facility.

The NRC's concerns relative to inspection findings 85-02-01 and 85-02-05 were

discussed by you and Mr. D. P. Loveless of this office in a phone conversation on

September 26, 1985. We understand that in addition to the corrective actions

stated in the aforementioned letter you will:

-

Interview all licensed operators to determine and correct any additional

examples cf inadequate or inaccurate procedures.

-

Retrain operators on the methodology for and necessity of effecting required

temporary procedure changes prior to procedure utilization.

Continue to follow your August 5, 1974 approved Requalification Program per

10 CFR 50.54.1-1., in conjunction with the enhanced retraining addressed in

your September 9, 1985 letter.

We have evaluated your responses and, in light of the above, have found that

they meet the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201. We will examine the implementation

of your corrective actions during future inspections.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
