SUBJECT:

REGARDING EMERGENCY PLANNING EXEMPTION

Dear Mr. Mendonca:

Thank you for the opportunity to comment regarding the considered issuance of exemption for the Neely Nuclear Research Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In the light of the status of the reactor and the low hazard presented in its defueled state, the City of Atlanta concurs with the proposed action to exempt the facility of planning requirements. In the future, if the status of the reactor were to change, we would anticipate communication from the NRC and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Again, thank you for communicating to us on this matter.
