SUBJECT: REPORT NO. 50-160/87-02

Thank you for your response of April 7,1987, to our Notice of Violation,

issued on March 9,1987, concerning activities conducted at your Georgia

Institute of Technology Research Reacm facility. We have evaluated your

response to Violation A and found that it meets the requirements of

10 CFR 2.201. We will examine the implementation of your corrective actions

during future inspections.

With regards to Violation B, our review of your response noted that it did not

indicate the date when full compliance was achieved. However, on April 17,

1987, during a telephone conve*sation between you and Mr. P. E. Fredrickson

of this office you stated that the procedure for sampling liquid waste was

approved by the Safeguards Committee on April 9, 1987. Therefore, your response

now meets the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201. We will examine the

implementation of your corrective actions during future inspections.
