ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT NO. 7 TO FACILITY OPERATIrlG LICENSE NO. R GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 7 to Facility Operating License No. R-97 for the Georgia Tech Research Reactor (GTRR). The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your submittals dated August 6, 1987, as supplemented, and March 1, 1988.

The amendment (1) removes the authority to receive and possess up to 700 grams of U-235 in the form of AGN-201 reactor fuel, (2) allows nitrogen to be used as a cover g's in the GTRR, (3) clarifies the number and timing of samples to be anaifzed in connection with release of the contents of the liquid waste tanks to the sanitary sewer, and (4) changes the organizational structure of the GTRR and expands the responsibilities of the Nuclear Safeguards Comittee (NSC).

A copy of the related Safety Evaluation supporting Amendment No. 7 is enclosed.
