Bowen, dated October 5, 1982. Ms. Bowen's affidavit provides l information pertaining to DAARE/ SAFE Contention 9a concerning a phenomenon called " water hammer" and its potential effect on Byron Station.

1 Specifically, Ms. Bowen stated in her affidavit of l June 6, 1982, that Commonwealth Eda. son Company planned to I install temperature sensors on the bypass system piping to the steam generators at Byron Station (Affidavit, 11 1-2). that Edison no longer intends co install these temperature sensors (Affidavit, 34). The attachment to Ms. Bowen's October 5 Affidavit also addresses several questions posed by the NRC Staff with respect to the "KRSKO water hammer" event.
