Attachment 2 contains the amount of decommissioning funds accumulated through December 31,1998. Attachment 3 contains a schedule of annual amounts to be collected through the final year as indicated.
The funding assurance mechanism being used as the source of revenues for our external sinking funds is traditional " cost-of-service" ratemaking. The rate of escalation assumed in decommissioning costs is 4.05%. The rate of eamings assumed on our tax-qualified decommissioning funds is 7.30%. The rate of earnings assumed on our nontax-qualified decommissioning funds is 6.26%.
The Illinois Commerce Commission issued an Order, dated February 19,1998, in l
Docket No. 97-0110 " Commonwealth Edison Company, Petition for Decommissioning Expense Adjustment and for permission to file a change to Rider 31" that documents the approval of these earnings rates.
