April 25, 1983 L.-.83-256 Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory'ommission Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear Mr. Denton:

SPECIAL REPORT Turkey Point Units 3 4 0 Date of Occurrence - March 25, 1983 Technical Specification - 3.10.5.b FIRE BARRIER PENETRATIONS This special report is being submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.3 to provide 30 days notification on the subject occurrence.

Due to the implementation of approved design changes (PC/M 82-60 and 82-110), several fire barrier penetrations were breached for longer than seven (7) days. These penetrations are located at the new computer room, cable spreading room and control room.

Our ability to return the breached penetrations to functional status depends on the time frame required to complete the implementation of the design changes. The projected duration is three (3) months from the date of this report.

In compliance with Technical Specifications, an hourly fire watch has been established.
