SPECIAL REPORT FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM IMPAZRMENTS REQUIRING NRC NOTIFICATION PURPOSE:

Technical Specification (TS) 3.14.5.b requires the submission of a report to the NRC if a non-functional fire barrier penetration is not returned to functional status within 7 days. TS 3.14 also states that certain other conditions require NRC notification. In accordance with the above requirements, this special report is being submitted in order to notify the NRC.

EVENT:

Fire Protection Impairment (FPI) 2458 was opened for penetration 025W-E016.

CAUSE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:

e FPI 2458, opened April 20, 1989 to repair a penetration seal, is still being measures as worked. The plant continues applicable.

to implement the compensatory STATUS UPDATE:

FPI 1778, reported open in FPL letter L-88-331, dated August 2, 1988, was closed on April 14, 1989. FPI 2059, reported open in FPL letter L-88-501, dated November 18, 1988, was closed on April 18, 1989.

FPI 2137, reported open in FPL letter L-88-535, dated December 16, 1988, was closed on April 19, 1989. FPIs 2301 and 2302, reported open in FPL letter L-89-114, dated March 23, 1989, were closed on May 3, 1989. FPI 2365, reported open in FPL letter L-89-154, dated April 21, 1989, was closed on April 18, 1989.
