SPECIAL REPORT CONMNSER AIR EJECTOR HIGH RANGE NOBLE GAS MONITOR Puru os e Technical Specification 3.5, Table 3.5-5, item 13.c requires that if the condenser air ejector high range noble gas monitor is inoperable for greater than 7 days, FPL shall prepare and submit a special report to the Commission pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.3 within 30 days following the event, outlining the action taken, the cause of the inoperability, and the plans and schedule for restoring the system to operable status'vent and Action Taken On March 22, 1989, at approximately 1115, the 'Unit 3 condenser air ejector high range noble gas monitor was removed from service in order to perform preventive maintenance and channel calibrations as required by the Technical Specifications .

At that time, the Chemistry Department initiated the preplanned alternate method of monitoring, as required by the Technical Specifications. On March 29, Unit 3 was shutdown, and therefore, the preplanned alternate method of monitoring was discontinued when the condenser air ejector was removed from service.

Cause of the Ino erabilit The Unit 3 condenser air ejector. high .range noble gas monitor was removed from service in order to perform preventive maintenance and channel calibrations as required by the Technical Specifications.

Schedule for Return of E ai ment The Unit 3 condenser air ejector high range noble gas monitor is scheduled to be returned to operable status prior to restart of Unit 3.
