SPECIAL REPORT JANUARY 31, 1989 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM IMPAIRMENTS REQUIRING NRC NOTIFICATION PURPOSE:
Technical Specification (TS) 3.14.5.b requires the submission of a report to the NRC if a non-functional fire barrier penetration is not returned to functional status within 7 days.
TS 3.14 also states that certain other conditions require NRC notification.
In accordance with the above requirements, this special report is being generated in order to notify the NRC.
EVENT:
Fire Protection Impairment (FPI) Number 2227 was issued, on January 4,
1989, for holes through barrier 75F.
CAUSE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:
The above impairment was caused by the implementation of a plant modification.
Detector operability was verified and a fire patrol was established, in accordance with Technical Specifications.
STATUS UPDATE
'PI 1926, which identifies an impairment to penetration 045E-M007, was reported as open in FPL letter L-88-471.
This FPI was closed on January 3,
1989.
