Ref: ' Letter from J.' A. Bailey to the Director of NRR Log: . GN-1029, dated 8/5/86

' Gentlemen: -

Per'th3 commitment advanced in the referenced letter, Georgia Power Company hereby submits a report regarding the results of leakage examinations conducted during the Fall 1988 refueling outage. Certain systems were examined for leakage outside containment pursuant to item III.D.1.1 of NUREG 0737. For the liquid systems, the leakage survey was performed at or as near as prectical to operating temperatures and pressures. Leakage paths were identified visually. Gaseous system leakage was measured'using a leak rate monitor while a soap bubble solution was used to identify leakage paths.

.The following ~ systeins were leak tested:

Residual Heat Removal System Containment Spray System (Excluding the NaOH portion)

Safety' Injection System (Excluding the Accumulators)

Cher.ical and Volume Control System (Letdown, Charging and Boron Recycle)

Post Accident Sampling System Nuclear Sampling System (Pressurizer Steam and Liquid Sample Lines, Reactor Coolant Sample Lines, RHR Sample Lines, CYCS Demineralized, and Letdown Heat Exchanger Sample Lines only)

Gaseous Waste Processing System 0

None of the identified leakage was considered to be excessive. Therefore, since~ the leakage from liquid systems is contained via floor drains and

. gaseous system leakage. is. contained via ventilation filters, the identified leakage was judged to be acceptable. However, work orders were issued in an effort to reduce leakage to a level as low as practical.
