On August 21, 1982, during a RCIC inspection, it was found that the RCIC turbine was leaking oil from its sight glass. The oil level could not be naintained in the turbine. This occurred while in condition 2 and the RCIC system was declared inoperable in accordance with Technical Specifi-cation 3.7.3.
V. PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES OF THE OCCURRENCE At the time of the occurrence LaSalle Unit 1 was undergoing start-up testing and other ECCf, systems were operable. Safe operation of the Unit was maintained at all times.
VI. CAUSE The RCIC turbine sight glass gaskets were worn and caused the oil to leak. The gaskets were manufactured by Jacoby Tarbox.
VII. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS A work request was written to replace the sight glass gaskets. The RCIC turbine was declared operational on August 23,1982 at 2000.
