Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station Docket Number 50-265, DPR-30, Unit Two Enclosed is Licensee Event Report (LER)97-001, Revision 01, for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station.

This report is submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Part 50.73(a)(2)(v)(D). The licensee shall report any event or condition that alone could have .

prevented the fulfillment of the safety function of structures or '

systems that are needed to mitigate the consequences of an accident.

Also submitted in accordance with Part 50.73(a)(2)(iv). The licensee shall report any event or condition that resulted in manual or

. automatic actuation of any Engineered Safety Feature.

I In addition to the commitments made in the original LER, the following new commitments are being made by this letter:

1. The subject Special Report will be submitted to the NRC by '

081597.

2. Technical Specification (TS) Special and Periodic reports and personnel responsible for generating the subject reports will be identified. A correlation will be completed that will identify an implementing document for each report. j The appropriate individuals, including members of the Plant Operations Review Committee (PORC), will be briefed on the Special and Periodic reporting requirements dictated by the Upgraded TSs. This will be completed by 100197. i;
3. QTP 0500-10, " Reactor Vessel Designed Cyclec", will be revised to accurately reflect the TS special reporting requirements.

This will include direction for assigning a Nuclear Tracking i System (NTS) number to track the submittal of special reports. l This will be completed by 123197. l
