ADEQUATE DESIGN REVIEW, DOCKET NO. 50-358, CONSTRUCTION PERMIT NO. CPPR-88, W.0.#57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. NRC-8, M-61 Gentlemen:

This letter constitutes an interim report to document the current status concerning the subject condition, initially reported to the Commission as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e) .

In our previous report, QA-2103, dated November 19, 1982, CG&E identified that Corrective Action Request (CAR) #82-80 had been issued to resolve this i issue. At that time, we expected to complete our verification and analysis of the CAR response by January 15, 1983. Although a response to the CAR has been re-ceived from the H. J. Kaiser Company and is under evaluation, a final response ty Sargent & Lundy, scheduled for completion by January 20, 1983, is required to complete the resolution of this issue and determine its safety implications.

These actions will be completed by February 15, 1983, at which time a final report will be submitted.

We trust the above will be found acceptable as an interim report under 10CFR50.55(e).
