ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 10CFR50.55(e), ITEM M-61, FIRE PROTECTION PIPING SUSPENDED FROM ESSENTIAL CABLE TRAY SUPPORTS W.O. 57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, M-61 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject reportable deficiency reported to the Commission under 10CFR50. 55 (e) .

Our last report LOZ-83-0093 of July 27, 1983 committed that a follow-up report would be submitted November 11, 1983. It further stated that an analysis of the safety implications of

'this condition would be completed; however, that analysis was previously completed and reported in our letter LOZ-83-0017 of April 13, 1983.

The only remaining action necessary to complete our report on this deficiency is the completion of the corrective modifications previously described in an interim report. This work was stopped by the NRC November 12, 1982 " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction."

These modifications would affect essential cable tray I supports which themselves are being reinspected under the Quality Confirmation Program. Therefore, these modifications are not considered appropriate to perform under a relaxation to the Show Cause Order.

The corrective modifications will be completed under the program described in our Course of Action submitted to the NRC October 3, 1983. Upon completion of the corrective modifications, ve will submit a final report on this deficiency.
