ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 10CFR50.55 (e) , ITEM M-56, INADEQUATE INSTALLATION OF GAMMA PLUGS W.O. 57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, M-56 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition which was initially reported to the Commission on. August 4, 1982 as a potentially reportable deficiency. Our last report, LOZ-83-0054, was submitted June 21, 1983.

CGEE has determined that the condition represents a reportable deficiency under 10CFR50.55(e). The condition-is determined to be reportable because it is a' deficiency that could, in certain high pressure systems, adversely affect safety of operations, and is a significant construction deficiency.

H.J. Kaiser Co. is' completing its investigations regarding gamma plug deficiencies, both in accessible and embedded piping.

l Final resolutions of these deficiencies are expected to be complete by January 30, 1984. A follow-up report will be submitted at that time.
