57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, M-45 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on April 30, 1982.
Our last report, LOZ-83-0066, was submitted June 30, j
1983.
Since our last report, Task II of the Quality Confirmation Program (QCP) has continued to review the Henry J. Kaiser Company (HJK) welder qualifications performed prior to March 15, 1982.
Of the approximately 2500 welders identified by HJK, 2368 welders were eventually certified to weld.
To date, QCP Task II has reviewed approximately 1492 of the 2368 welders' qualification
. records.
Our last report also indicated that a program was being developed to generate a computer data base to assist in the identification and resolution of welder qualification deficiencies.
This program, the Computerized Welding Information
. System (CNIS), is scheduled to be completed by February 15, 1984.
Upon completion of the CWIS, any deficiency identified will be evaluated to determine if it is a reportable deficiency.
A follow-up report will be submitted by March 21, 1984.
