2. Report Date: 19 }by 1977 3 Occurrence Date: April 28-29, 1977
4. Identification of Occurrence: s Biomass of finh anil shellff.sh impinned on the intake acreens of Units 1, 2 and 3 ..cceeded the 50 kg/24hr reporting level of section 3.1.3 of the Environmental Technical Specifications.
5. Conditions Prior to Occi'rrence:

Unit #1 - All water circulation pumps operational. .

Unit #2 - All water circulation pumps non-operational (Unit 2 '

down, maintenance). f.

Unit #3 - All water circulation pumps operational'.

6. Description of Occurrence:

During the period 1000 April 28,,1977 to 1000 April 29,1977 54.17 kg of fish and shellfish were impinged on the intake screens of Crystal River' Units 1, 2 and 3. Of the 54.17 kg

  • impinged, Unit' 3 accounted for 48.64 kg (90% of total.). Two commercially unimportant species, the batfish and the cowfish accounted for 11.34 kg (21% of total). Two commercially utilized species, the pink shrimp and the blue crab accounted for 39.87 kg (74% o'f total). Impingement of all other commercially utilized species was less than 1 kg during the period' in question. The remaining biomass impinged was distributed among several species of fish and shellfish.
7. Designation of Apparent Cause of Occurrence:

No unusual or perio'dic events were noted prior to or during the oCCurrenCO.
