5. Identification of Occurrence:

Failure to analyze samples according to the routine listed in Ap-pendix B, Table 3.2-2, as required by Appendix B, Speci fi ca,-

tion 3.2.2.

6. Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

N/A

7. Description of Occurrence:

Seawater samples were collected at the six (6) sample stations as required but due to equipment malfunctions, the analyses were not performed correctly.

8. Designatic.i of Apparent Cause:

The apparent cause of the occurrence is the malfunctioning of the analysis equipment.

9. Analysis of Occurrence:

This occurrence was not a result of the operation of Crystal River Unit 3. Random equipment malfunction, while undesirable, is an inherent equipment characteristic and cannot be predicted.

10. Corrective Action:

Seawater samples were re-collected at the six (6) sample stations and analyzed as required. All Lower Limits of Detection were less than those required and there was not reportable activity in any of the samples.

11. Failure Data:

This is the first report for this type occurrence.
